Autopoiesis
“from Greek αὐτo (auto), meaning ‘self’, and ποίησις (poiesis), meaning ‘creation, production’. It refers to a system capable of reproducing and maintaining itself.”
I am fascinated by decentralize self organizing systems that occur in the natural world. These systems also occur in a social context. It has been this type of social, decentralize, eco-system, made up of artist, art lovers, and preservationists that have kept the Miami Marine Stadium relevant in the community. This totally unorganized social system is helping to champion the preservation of this historical landmark. The iconic architecture serves as a canvas for the ever changing art painted on its walls. The art can change from one day to the next. This series of pictures attempts to capture a moment, to preserve a slice of time, to remind us of the temporal nature of the art living on the stadiums walls.

At one point the Marine stadium became a skater hang out nicked named “Rooftops”. Skaters would cross this catwalk and climb to the roof through the opening seen here in this picture to the left.
